Far4
We digress from the usual gift guide suggestions today, to encourage you to attend a wonderful event to support the Seattle Art Museum. Porcelain and design boutique, Far4, and its neighbor, stylish living mecca, Watson Kennedy, are offering special shopping days—now through Dec. 6, where 15% of purchases made will be donated to the SAM. Both stores are fabulous places to buy special gifts, so we’re planning to attend the champagne reception that Far4 will be having tonight from 5-7p.m., featuring Theo Chocolate and macaroons from Honore Bakery ((206) 706-4035). Cheers to great gift giving, and to supporting the arts!

Last week, Seattle’s Far4 (1020 First Ave.) had an event to celebrate their delicious Thé O’Dor loose-leaf teas served avec Theo Chocolate (3400 Phinney Ave. N) and macaroons from Honore Artisan Bakery (1413 N.W. 70th St.)—to die for! We couldn’t help but notice some of the fun things they have in their shop at the moment. Here are some of the things that caught our eye:

You gotta give it to Seattle—when it comes to eco style, we are the leaders of the pack. A new, local company is doing something great for giftwrap: making is chic and sustainable. Persimmon and Pine founders Mandy Behrens and Julie Lyderson-Jackson were inspired by Japanese Furoshiki, the centuries-old practice of using a folded cloth (called a furoshiki) for practical and ornamental applications. Their Savvywrap is made from materials like hemp, silk charmeuse, soy and organic muslin blends, and can be washed and re-used. A portion of their profits go to benefit various local and global charities. Do something different—and eco-friendly—the next time you give a gift!

Prices range from $30-$32, and can be purchased through the company’s etsy shop.

After spotting a great yellow umbrella in a store the other day (and then promptly forgetting to take any notes about it) we decided it was time for an umbrella-themed round-up. Part fashion (when matching your rain slicker), part home décor (when sitting in an umbrella stand in the entry) we say bring back the parasol and let it rain style.

Gerber Daisy Umbrella by Galleria, $27.95 at Amazon; Umbrella Floor Lamp by Pablo, $220 at Velocity Art & Design

These aren’t umbrellas, but don’t these candle holders look like them?

While out shopping this weekend (yes, even in the unpredictable weather of late), we were excited to stumble across the candles from renowned interior designer Barbara Barry’s home fragrance collection at Tableau, in Ballard (2220 NW Market St., (206) 782-5846). Here is the breakdown of each scent:
Living Room: Mimosa, orange blossom, star jasmine, musk and sandalwood.
Dining Room: Tarragon, rosemary, cedar and moss.
Powder Room: Citrus, bergamot, lemon peel, tangerine and Moroccan orange flower.
Bedroom: Vanilla, nutmeg, ginger and cardamom.

The sophisticated packaging showcases Barry’s own watercolor drawings of her furniture designs, making it a great gift for the design fanatic in your life. For us, that’s ourselves!

Coffee is the elixir that warms the spirit, chocolate the sweetness that goes straight to the heart. Put them together and you have the ultimate perfect pairing, a match made in heaven, two halves that found each other.
Fremont-based Theo Chocolate and Capitol Hill local Caffé Vita joined forces to bring coffee and chocolate together in two ways: first, the Theo Blend of coffee, second, the Theo Coffee dark chocolate bar. The Theo Blend tastes like something spicy, smoky and chocolate-y. The chocolate bar is made with Caffé Vita coffee—literally made for union with Vita’s Theo Blend.
Theo Blend is $11, the Theo Coffee chocolate bar, $3.50. Either one a good gift for cupid to bring home on Saturday.

Available at Theo Chocolate, 3400 Phinney Ave. N., and all five Caffé Vita locations: Capitol Hill, 1005 E. Pike St.; Queen Anne, 815 Fifth Ave. N.; Fremont, 4301 Fremont Ave. N.; Seward Park, 5028 Wilson Ave. S.; and Olympia, 124 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia.
