Legendary Seattle architect and community activist George Suyama, of design firm Suyama Peterson Deguchi, was recently awarded the AIA Seattle 2009 Medal of Honor. We can certainly see why!
From homes in Sun Valley and Lopez Island to Starbucks coffee shops and art galleries, Suyama’s sophisticated and modern design is inspiring. During the past 38 years, Suyama has received acclaim for his melding of traditional Japanese architecture and contemporary design in both commercial and residential settings.
In addition to his design work, Suyama is an avid and active supporter of the Seattle art community. He volunteers at various arts organizations including Henry Art Gallery, On the Boards and the Seattle Arts Commission.
