Kirkland Arts Center, August 20 & 21

TASTE
TomatoFare West, August 22
The TomatoFare West festival at Seattle’s Cedarbrook Lodge includes heirloom tomato dishes prepared by chefs such as Christine Keff, Jason Wilson and Bobby Moore, tastings from local breweries and sustainable wineries, and live music performances. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 on day of event.

An Incredible Feast, August 22
Enjoy more than 30 gourmet dishes, wines and beer from local farmers, ranchers, fishers and foragers. In the interest of sustainability, guests are encouraged to bring their own plate and fork to use during the event. All proceeds support the Good Farmer Fund. Tickets are $75–$80.

South Lake Union Block Party, August 13
Local restaurants, the Cascade Farmers Market, a wine-tasting and beer garden and a movie under the stars are just some of the events planned for this sixth annual event. Ruined, August 13–15

Hats and Heels, August 13
Emerald Downs resurrects the tradition of dressing up for an evening at the races with a ladies-only shopping event. Seafair events, August 6–8
There are a lot of Seafair-related happenings this weekend, but the most well known (and possibly most exciting) are the Blue Angels air show and the hydroplane races. Watch as the hydroplanes race across Lake Washington at speeds of up to 200 mph, and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels perform their breathtaking aeronautical feats.

Lake City Pioneer Days, August 6 & 7
A Seafair-sponsored event, the Lake City Pioneer Days festival includes a salmon bake, parade, kids activities, a pizza eating contest and 100 vendor booths.

Magnolia SummerFest and Art Show, August 6 & 7
Join the residents of Magnolia for SummerFest, an annual celebration of summer, local artists, music, food and the largest children’s parade in Seattle.

A local culinary celebrity has hit the big time. We’re sending out a huge congratulations to Maria Hines of Tilth, as she recently competed on—and won—Food Network’s Iron Chef America. The food at Tilth is organic and locally sourced, and aside from her Iron Chef-win, Hines also has a James Beard Award. We can’t think of a reason not to go to Tilth.

The 61st annual Seafair Torchlight Parade begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Space Needle and travels along Fourth Avenue 2.5 miles to Qwest Field.

The City of Seattle closes Lake Washington Boulevard from Mount Baker Beach south to Seward Park to motor vehicle traffic and devotes it exclusively to bicycles, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Pista Sa Nayon, August 1
This event at the Seward Park Amphitheater (5898 Lake Washington Blvd. S., 9 a.m.–8 p.m.) showcases the best of being Filipino and offers activities for all ages: food, arts and crafts, live entertainment, basketball tournament and children’s games.

WAVE GOODBYE
The Last Sip in Belltown, July 31

GreenNote, July 24
GreenNote is a celebration of sustainable music and culture. The concert features singer-songwriter Amos Lee, and all music will be acoustic in order to cut back on electrical needs. Food vendors are required to include sustainable or vegetarian options on their menus, and all utensils and food containers are compostable, helping to create as little waste as possible. Best of all, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to beneficiaries such as the Sierra Club. Party with a purpose? Sounds great to us!

ALS Doubleday Bike Ride, July 24 & 25
Join other riders this weekend to help raise money for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease) research. The two-day ride consists of a 42-mile loop ridden each day. Registration fee includes meals and an overnight campsite.

Golf Fore Red 2010, July 24
Support the American Heart Association and help raise money for the Go Red For Women campaign at the third annual Golf Fore Red Gold Tournament.

Swedish SummeRun, July 25
Lace up your sneakers and run or walk to help in the fight to end ovarian cancer! This family-friendly event includes a 5K walk and a 10K run through the Capitol Hill and First Hill neighborhoods. All proceeds from the event go to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer.

Capitol Hill Block Party, July 23–25
Join other music lovers for this three-day music event, which features four stages and more than 60 local and national bands.

Bellevue Arts Museum artsfair, July 23–25
A celebration of community art, the artsfair features 325 artists showing everything from painting and home décor to jewelry. All proceeds from every purchase go directly to the artist. Also, enjoy an arts demonstration stage and a chalk activity area for kids.

Bellevue Festival of the Arts, July 23–25
In addition to the Bellevue Arts Museum artsfair, this weekend marks the 26th annual Bellevue Festival of the Arts. Located in the Cost Plus World Market lot, the Festival of Arts is a juried arts and crafts show featuring 180 inspiring artists.

Alki Art Fair, July 24 & 25
The Alki Art Fair is a fundraiser providing scholarships to students of all ages for art classes offered through the Alki Community Center and Alki Bathhouse Art Studio. All vendors are required to sell only handmade, original art, guaranteeing one-of-a-kind finds for all who attend.

Pike Place Market Fruit Festival, July 25
Enjoy the best of this season’s locally grown fruits and veggies, as well as live entertainment. Watch as local market chefs compete in an Iron Chef-style competition with 20 minutes and $25 dollars to purchase ingredients, followed by 45 minutes to prepare their dish.

Set in the heart of Ballard, the 36th annual Seafood Fest offers live music, arts and crafts vendors and, well, seafood. Lots and lots of seafood. Seattle Luxury Chocolate Salon, July 11

Redmond Derby Days, July 9–11
The city of Redmond welcomes summer with its 70th annual Derby Days celebration. This event is chock full of entertainment, including free concerts, bike races, food, kids activities, a parade, carnival and even closing day fireworks.

West Seattle Summer Fest, July 9–11
What happens when they close off West Seattle Junction? A party in the streets, otherwise known as West Seattle Summer Fest. This family-friendly, community-oriented festival showcases the best of West Seattle from music to food, as well as arts and crafts from local vendors.

Green Lake Milk Carton Derby, July 10
A local Seattle favorite for more than 30 years, the Green Lake Milk Carton Derby is a day full of laughs, entertainment and stiff competition. Watch as contestants battle it out in six categories including Racing, Showboat and Family.

Mercer Island Summer Celebration!, July 10–11
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Through the Decades.” The island is celebrating its 50th birthday, and this event is a party to remember. Grab a partner and sign up for the tennis tournament, break out your classic ride for the car show and don’t miss the grand parade.

Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run and Kids Parade, July 10
Queen Anne Days kicks off with a 3.3-mile fun run/walk this Saturday. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city and Puget Sound as you travel the course circling the top of the hill. The fun run is followed by the Children’s Parade, where all are encouraged to dress up and participate.

Chinatown-International District Summer Fest, July 10–11
Join this lively celebration as local drill teams, martial artists, musicians and other unique performers showcase their talents. Think you can sing? Put your voice to the test at the eighth annual Karaoke Idol Competition.

Beacon Rocks!, July 11
This Sunday will mark the second event in this series of free, local live music performances on Beacon Hill. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy some family-friendly music and spend time with neighbors from the Beacon Hill community.
